The nominees for the 64th Primetime Emmy Awards were announced this morning, and while some of our all-time favorites (yay for Downton Abbeywith 16 nods!) were obvious choices, others may surprise you.
Haven’t had the chance to check out the noms for yourself? Here are all the juicy details, and who we’re most excited to see at the show.
We try not to pick favorites, but we can’t wait to see what New Girl star Zooey Deschanel (nominated for Lead Actress in a Comedy Series) will rock on the red carpet (other than those killer bangs!). Gotta root for our SELF cover girls!
Who else are we expecting to go big with her red-carpet style? Our favorite breakthrough star Lena Dunham, who turned her almost-too-realistic-to-watch series, Girls, into a cult favorite and led the show to its nomination for Best Comedy Series. We’re predicting a win, despite big-time contenders like The Big Bang Theory, Curb Your Enthusiasm, 30 Rock and Modern Family.
We were so excited to see Joanne Froggatt, who plays Anna on Downton Abbey, get a nod for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series. While spilling on the much-anticipated upcoming season (and Mr. Bates!), she told us she’s looking forward to sporting Vivienne Westwood or Victoria Beckham at the Emmys this year.
And, of course, we’re rooting for Sofia Vergara, the gorgeous star (another former SELF cover girl!) who helped turn Modern Family into a major success. The celeb, who was recently named TV’s highest-paid actress, is up for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series, and you know she’s going to look flawless on the red carpet.
What are your predictions for this year’s winners? Make your bets and tune in on Sept. 23, when the Emmys will be presented at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles! –Cary Carr
